In 2011, Pandox therefor started the Pandox Youth Handball Movement. The objective is to provide children and young people with purposeful leisure time through sports and handball training. Sports is a good way to establish contact with children and young adults and in the future the project hopes to build on this by contributing advice on healthcare and relationships, by improving attitudes and by cooperating with other social projects.
The project is managed in close cooperation with the MSG and the Partille Cup – the world’s largest and most international handball tournament for young people.
Some of our actions are listed below.
PANDOX TRAINING COURSE
Ever since the project started Pandox has arranged an annual training camp in February on site in Nyeri. The Pandox training camps has over the years been arranged for both trainers and coaches of young people as well as for the young handball players.
The participants learned about handball theory, how to handle injuries, bandage feet and fingers, pump balls, as well as discussing good sportsmanship. Of course, the participants were also intensively trained in the fundamentals of the sports of handball.
The camps have since start been headed by the Swedish coach, Lisette Norén, from Sävehof IF and have all been implemented with good results. Among the other assisting coaches is also Staffan Olsson from the Swedish national handball team who visited Nyeri in 2012.
SERIES SYSTEM
In order to develop handball into a new level, a successful league table has been established and implemented among the schools.
COUNSELLING AND GUIDANCE IN NYERI
Free counselling has been made available within healthcare and other social issues.
SCHOLARSHIPS
As a part of creating incentives for the youth, criteria for scholarships has been produced in connection to the project.
LOCAL COMMUNICATION IN NYERI
MSG will communicate the objective of the cooperation with Pandox. Young people who take part in physical activities will become better citizens – through learning about responsibility, learning how to function in a social context, taking responsibility and improving their study performance. They will make social contributions for the community under MSG’s direction. It is important that decision makers see the contributions that MSG makes for the town.
